According to the statistics were taken by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), (2018), the Chinese economy continues to grow strongly with a projected 6.6 growth rate in 2018. The organization indicated the decades of transformation that China has undergone in the last one century. In such as case, more and more china citizens are growing to the middle- and upper-class economic levels consequently raising their lifestyle.

A famous article publisher and news website “Independent” through its contributor Ben Chapman, published an article “Meet China’s five richest billionaires who’ve gone from nothing to $166bn.” (Chapman, 2017). The article poses china as a “global economic superpower” which has grown its citizen to wealth through enabling the environment to do business. As more and more citizens are elevated to being millionaires, the lifestyle will continue to raise thus creating a trend of affluent society.

Another article by the Wang, Sun & Song, (2011), see affluent lifestyle in China as a result of a positive attitude towards fashion and enjoyable lifestyle.

Each of this groups has a various view towards luxury and which has much influence on the consumption of such products. Another aspect raised by Ngai & Cho in their research on luxury consumption in China. They found out that, the majority of affluent people are young. This means the luxury industry will continue to grow as more and more youths are empowered.

In support of this argument, Zhang & Kim (2013) in their work on fashion products consumption, tried to examine the factors influencing Chinese to consume these luxury goods. These habits were found to be highly dependent on the positive attitude they have towards luxury fashion products.

Wang,Sun&Song(2011)
