Heath writes articles for xtelligent Healthcare Media on patient care, satisfaction, and experience. In the article, she reports on creating positive patient experience in the emergency department and assessing whether the experience is positive. The article itself is not research but an analysis of the already performed study. In so doing, the author looks at a case study of Emergency Department as presented in a study by Press Ganey that consult on patient experience. The report demonstrates that patient, positive experience and satisfaction and redesigning Healthcare Delivery in the emergency Department is necessary. Therefore, the ED acts as a microcosm of the health system in the facility.

Although the article has adequately presented the issue, it has a few weaknesses. The author did not present either qualitative or quantitative data on the previous research in support of her arguments. For the information to hold more weight, a statistical presentation of the situation was necessary. Furthermore, the article did not lay a clear background on which the report was based. The background could have set a platform for a better and clear understanding of the report.

That notwithstanding, the article is critical in informing my research on ways and approach to improving patient experience in emergency rooms. However, more study is needed on the effectiveness of the various methods and strategies in enhancing the patient experience.

The authors are scholars in various healthcare disciplines and work as healthcare practitioners at Ann & Robert H. Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The authors focused on reducing the length of stay in the ED. In essence, the article is a report on the performance of the ED of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital. They explained the key takeaways recommendations for the establishment of an effective and responsive ED in the hospital. The article also identifies the challenges faced by the hospital and the approaches to developing the infrastructures through efficient and effective design and execution, values stream analysis, development of intervention plan, and tests of results.

The report has presented the data about the performance and the challenges in the ED. The statistical approach to the problem gives the report strength authenticity of use in other hospitals. These make the article strategic as the case can be applied to other hospitals. However, the case may not be transferrable per se as the organizational structures can be different. It could have been better if the authors approached the issues more holistically without aligning their report to one specific hospital.

Nevertheless, the research will inform my research on the mechanism to use for the improvement and reduction of length of stay in the ED. More research can be used to measure the use and effectiveness of technology in the ED.

The author works for “athenainsight” that research and report on healthcare issues. The article reports on how Ellenville Regional Hospital became the best in offering emergency care in a rural area under the leadership of Steven L. Kelley. The author reports an interview with the CEO on his administration in the hospital and how they managed to reduce the emergency department wait time. The responses for Mr. Kelley give insight into the approach to improving the ED system through a collective effort in the department and the hospital at large.

The article offers a perfect case scenario of an improved ED and the mechanism used to attain less stay and wait time. Therefore, it will add to my research the methods of reducing wait time which is tested and proved to work.
