It discusses the issues being faced by the organization. And the decisions that the top management had to make in order to ensure the company’s survival. The work that the non profit organization was doing was much important for the cancer survivors as it focused on dealing with issues that came after surviving from this perilous disease.
The problem began when rumors started spreading about Lance Armstrong doping during cycling tournaments. And using performance enhancing drugs. Not only had he previously denied the use of these drugs but had also sued the people. Who had even hinted that he had been using them. However, with the passage of time, the rumors did not die out, instead they continued to increase. And eventually, the cat came out of the bag.
Many of Armstrong’s closest associates had admitted to either doping with him or that Armstrong himself had admitted to doping in front of them. Investigations were launched by the United States Anti Doping Agency. And they released a report stating that he had indeed been using performance enhancing drugs during his cycling career. Eventually, he was banned from cycling in tournaments, and now he was going to be appearing on Oprah Winfrey’s show,. And the board knew that he would admit to using those drugs on air.

The problem for the company is that even though Armstrong has resigned from being one of the directors and had also completely stepped down from his duties as a board member. His image was directly affecting the company. Every time the rumors had spread. It had resulted in decreased donations for the organization, whose primary income was grants from other parties.
Additionally, the company was being bombarded with queries and requests for statements from the press, which needed to be addressed. The question now was how to address them. Even though Armstrong had stepped down as a board member. The company was still associated as the organization that was started by him to do some good for the society. And yet, there were speculations that perhaps this initiative by Armstrong held some ulterior motive as well.

I think that they need to hold a press conference. And make a bold statements outlining that while Armstrong had been a huge support. And the reason for existence of the organization. He had no role to play in the business anymore, and even before this, all he had done was help the cancer survivors.
I think they need to bring forth the image that LiveStrong is a responsible non-profit organization that does not support the actions of its founder. And that they are apart from the famous cyclist. Anything that the company does is independent of the famous personality. And its actions are aimed at improving the lives of the cancer survivors.
Additionally, it should also share the visions for the organization along with the plans to take it there. As this transparency will help in building a favorable image in the eyes of the audience and the viewers. Therefore, I do believe that the organization needs to come up with a bold statement . And clear everything out through a candid discussion with the press.
