Climate Change and Effect on the Economy

Climate Change代写 Not only is the global climate change a threat to the planet and people but also it is a threat to the worldwide economy.

Not only is the global climate change a threat to the planet and people but also it is a threat to the worldwide economy. Scientists and economists are beginning to grapple with severe effects of climate on the economy and the environment. The world is faced with warmer temperatures, rising sea levels, and extreme weather patterns. The unpredictable weather has resulted in damage to properties, critical infrastructure, risk human life, health, and productivity. Climate Change代写**范文

Critically, agricultural sector has been affected including forestry, fisheries, and tourism. As a result, the demand for electricity is rising as the power generation become unreliable because water supply is stressed. The various problems of climate change require public-private collaboration to change the methods of production to others with lower or no emissions and guarantee reestablishment of sustainable economic growth.

Causes of Climate Change Climate Change代写

High levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere cause global climate change. Naturally, the atmosphere reflects solar radiation and hence reduces the amount of heat on the earth’s surface. The high concentration of greenhouse gas emissions has created a blanket around the globe, trapping the heat into the planet. The sun rays are not able to escape the surface causing the temperatures to rise. Climate Change代写**范文

The main greenhouse gas is carbon dioxide. According to NASA records, it was at 411 parts per million. The high concentration of carbon dioxide has resulted in changes in Arctic climate by making it warmers (White et al. par. 3). The ice has melted to 30 meters less compared to previous records. The increase in the rate of ice melting has resulted in frequent floods around the world coastlines. Climate Change代写**范文

Similarly, the high temperatures have also affected oceans. Compared to other years, as carbon dioxide increases in the atmosphere, oceans absorb and hence have become 30 percent more acidic. This has posed a threat to extinction of aquatic life. For instance, more than 50 percent of coral reefs have died in the last three decades. Also, oceans are retaining much heat than before causing water to expand and flood.

Undeniably, global warming can be blamed on human activities.  Climate Change代写

According to Gillis et al. (par. 3) the Environmental Protection Agency indicate that burning fuel has contributed the highest in the release of greenhouse gases with electricity generation leading with 29 percent. Developed countries like U.S, China, Canada, Europe, and Russia contribute more than 60 percent of the greenhouse effects. The U.S contributes the most significant percentage (Gillis et al. par. 11). In 2014 a per-person emission in United States was 16.2 metric tons of carbon dioxide. Climate Change代写**范文

In Canada it was 15.2 metric tons, and in China it was 7.5 metric tons. Rich countries have significant responsibility of about 60 percent in causing global warming. The developing countries contribute only 5 percent. If developed countries adopt measures to avert emission and implement strategies to absorb the current greenhouse gases, climatic and weather will start recovering.

Economic Impact  Climate Change代写

Climate change has become one of the biggest threats to economic sustainability. Extreme weather has cost more than $1.6 trillion. These costs are attributed to floods, wildfires, and high temperatures. Research shows that if the temperatures rise by 2 and 3 Celsius, the GDP will fall by 15 percent and 25 percent respectively (Burke et al. p. 549). Scientists predict that if nothing is done to stop the situation, by 2100, the temperatures will have rose by more than 4 Celsius. The economic change will only be compared to depression, but worse, climate change will be permanent.

Agriculture, fisheries, and forestry are the most affected sectors. Today there are few lobsters in the seas and oceans, which is bad for fishing business (Albeck-Ripka par. 3). Since year 2000, more than 23 million people have been lost jobs after the occurrence of natural disasters. Conversely, if there were efforts to reduce climate change since year 2000, there would be 24 million jobs created by 2030. Climate change is a cost to human resources. Climate Change代写**范文

Moreover, climate change is causing the immigration of people from areas with floods, drought, and extreme climatic conditions. According to 2008 report by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees more than 22.5 million people were displaced by severe weather (Markham par. 5). It is estimated that, if nothing is done by 2050, more than 700 people will be displaced.

Similarly, the United States also feel the pressure of immigrant looing for better habitats. The people from Latin America come towards the U.S border at times of natural disasters. Extreme weathers destroy crops and cause food insecurity. The prices of foodstuff increase as the cost of production also increase due to lack of water or destruction of plants and animals.

Solutions  Climate Change代写

There is a need for affirmative actions to avert extreme impacts of climate changes to the economy. Global states should adhere to the various climate treaties created including Kyoto Protocol and Copenhagen Accord, and the Paris Climate Accord, to maintain the temperature rise at 2 Celsius above the pre-industrial levels. The international agencies including the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, European Community, the International Energy Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency should tighten their measures and supervision to ensure climate guides are followed. Other measures include planting trees, use of alternative sources of energy, and reduction in food wastage. Climate Change代写**范文

Overall, there is a dare need for climate change solutions. It is a reality that really must be addressed. States need to partner with private sectors and other key players to implement and reinforce recommended changes. Everyone has a role to play. When best actions are adopted, economic sustainability will be maintained.
